About
The meetings are a kind of self-learning conducted by the CEESTAHC Society. Participants of the meetings in turn prepare lectures and workshops on specific topics.
Thursday Dinners are held in Krakow on Thursdays every two weeks - free admission.
The condition of participation is a commitment to prepare a lecture on a specific topic and give it on time. Obviously, the name of meetings originates from the historical Thursday Dinners held by King Stanislaw August Poniatowski. Thursday Dinners were meetings of Polish intellectuals organized on the model of Parisian literary salons. In the years 1770-1777 they were held regularly every week on Thursdays at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, and in the summer in Lazienki Park. The purpose of the meetings was discussion on art, science and literature.
Special Thursday Dinners
Special Thursday Dinners are held periodically. Lectures which were most popular on regular Thursday Dinners are presented then. Very often, specially invited experts give guest lecturers.
